For the new Kushiel folks, have any of you read Maia by Richard Adams (he also wrote Watership Down)?
I’m almost finished with it and it seems like the spiritual ancestor of the first Kushiel trilogy. There’s a lot of things that I think Carey’s writing does better, but Adams’ work has plenty of high points too.

It’s time like this that I miss livejournal being useful, because the fandom communities I was in back then made everything neat and organized instead of the squished threadchain that pervades tumblr.

Really, you guys are lucky that I just have Mass Effect friends (that I adore), because if I had a bunch of active Kushiel’s Legacy buddies too, I would never, ever shut up.
YOU SHOULD TALK ABOUT IT. ALL THE TIME.
The fandom is miniscule,…
You have a Hyacinthe tattoo? That’s amazing. Is it the flower or…? There’s an upsetting lack of fanart/fanfiction/discussion/etc for that series.
(I’ll fully admit that I first started reading it because ‘Oooh kinky’, but oh man. It’s amazing. I wasn’t as crazy about Imriel’s series but I really liked the Namaah books.)
My last laptop recently torpedoed itself or I’d post a picture, but it’s actually spelled Hyacinth, as the version of Phedre’s signale. There’s hand-inked designs between the letters and it’s across my chest. I’d like to get ‘love as thou wilt’ somewhere sometime.
I was kind of ‘eh’ on the Imriel trilogy as well, although it had a lot of characters and ideas I found interesting after a second read. The Naamah trilogy recaptured my heart, though, if only to promptly stomp on it because damn those books get sad. I want Moirin to be living with her queen and certain events never happened.

The fandom is miniscule, although a lot of folks liked the House posters I made a while ago. I want to write shipping meta for Phedre and Melisande and how terrible of an idea it is and ramble on about the houses that didn’t really get covered and I have a Hyacinth(e) tattoo, that should explain the depths of my problem.

I may or may not have just made grabby hands at my screen.
She’s one of my favorite literary characters ever. I adore Phedre too, and them both just…sigh.

I could talk about Houses and deities and Melisande,
a lot about Melisande,
or critically compare the series to Maia and/or Game of Thrones,

I finished my actual work early today and spent the rest of the time figuring out what music from Earth Aria would like. Whether or not I make it into a mix and post it is still up for debate.
